It’s finally summer, which means we can officially talk about this year’s top summer styles. It also means you finally have an excuse to head to the mall and stock up on swimsuits, sundresses, and shades. Even if you think you have enough, think again. If you need a little help, I’ve put together some options for you!
I love writing and reading styling posts, but apart from that, I don’t have much fashion expertise. This was just a fun way for me to show you guys some of the things that I like to wear…and do a little window shopping. I’d love to hear about what clothing items you like to wear in the comments section below!
All things swimwear
What’s summer swag without a new summer swimsuit? People typically flock to the two-piece bathing suits because who doesn’t want to show off their summer bod at the beach? But I’m here to tell you that one-piece suits are rising in popularity, and are just as hot as your average bikini. Take this Crochet Trim Plunge One Piece Swimsuit from Target. The lace design is simply eye-catching, and that deep-v and open back will have all those beach boys just drooling. All that for just $39.99.
Here’s another option with a little more color. This number is the Out From Under Cici Knotty One-Piece Swimsuit from Urban Outfitters. I have a tendency to go from the subtly sexy, which I why I think I’m so drawn to this slimming and open design. This one is going for $19.99 which is another bonus–and proof that if you search hard enough, you can find some really good online deals.
Another clothing item you might consider getting is a thin, flowy cover-up. Nobody likes having to wrap their beach towel around the body when they want to go use the restroom or visit the resort restaurant. But with a cover up, you don’t have to go through the hassle of changing and you look still look classy.
This piece is another one from Target for $19.99. It’s a complete cover-up that kind of just looks like an oversized blouse. I mean, I’d totally wear something like this on the daily. If you’re looking for something a little more showy, take a peek at the Tie-Dye Cover-Up below. It’s $29.00 at Urban Outfitters.
Stylish sunglasses
One of my summer must-haves is a good pair of sunglasses. I have really sensitive eyes and the sun in Oklahoma is just piercing, so it really helps to have some eye protection.
This $25.00 pair of sunglasses from Free People utilizes the dark and large lenses trending in fashion right now. The octagonal shape is special to this pair without ostracizing those who are a little less adventurous when it comes to eye wear.
I love Aviator-style sunglasses. I know it may seem kind of basic, but you know what, it works. And it looks good. These lightly tinted sunglasses are also from Free People. I love that the color is neutral enough to go with almost any outfit. It’s priced at $25.00 as well.
If you’re looking for something a little more fun, consider these thick-framed, cat-eye, animal-print sunglasses from Target. Priced at $13.00, you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck. The frame is the most fun part about this pair, but it’s not so overpowering that you have to style a specific outfit to wear with it.
All of the prints
Speaking of prints, I’m told they’re a staple for swag this summer. Everybody from Kaia Gerber to Margot Robbie has been seen wearing some kind of print this year–so why shouldn’t we?
For those of you who don’t take to print so easily, take a look at this $9.99 Sleeveless Jumpsuit from H&M. Yeah, that’s right, I said $9.99. It’s clearly an animal print romper that could also pass for your everyday striped outfit. And you can dress it up or down, which is a great trait to have in all your clothes.
Don’t forget that not all print is animal. This Novel Tie-Front Top in Windowbox Floral screams sweet summer. And I love anything you can wear with a colored pant. It’s available for just $19.99 at Madewell.
Dress to the maxi
Maxi dresses are the dresses for summer 2019. Take this Crêped Maxi Dress from H&M, priced at $24.99, for example. Taking advantage of the bright colors and flower power of the summer season, it’s a great pick for a beach vibe brunch. It’s even got two side slits for a little edge.
If you’re looking for something a little more form fitting, check out this $24.00 Marl Rib Maxi Dress with High Neck from ASOS. You can add jewelry of any color to match that sultry gray, and it obviously hugs the curves in all the right places. It’s exactly what you need for a night out on the town.
All natural
I’m talking about the natural shoe, of course. The thing I love most about nude is it’s versatility. With the variety of fabrics and colors, it’s nice to have a shoe that goes with everything.
A slip on shoe is a must for any summer outfit. These MadLove Kaden Monochromatic Flip Flop Sandals from Target serve as a dressed up sandal. It’s perfect for a park day or a boardwalk stroll. And it’s only $16.99.
I’ve talked about multi-purpose outfits, and I feel the same way about multi-purpose shoes. You could wear these shoes with a matching pantsuit or the ripped jeans pictured above. Either way, you’d still be styling. These Emmy Camel Suede Pointed Loafers are only $25.00 at Lulus.
So what do you think about these 2019 summer fashion trends? What are you wearing this summer? Is there anything in your closet that matches these trends? Let me know what you think of the post in the comments section down below! And stay tuned for a fun summer accessory DIY next week!
