It’s time…for the Superhero Showdown! Yes, you heard right, we’re here to talk about some of the greats when it comes to superhuman abilities. I mean, that’s what the Super Bowl is really about, isn’t it? Okay, so maybe I’m a little off base here. But I’ve got to admit, I’m not the biggest football fan. I do love a good superhero though. So, In honor of Super Bowl LIII, I’ve ranked the best-of-the-best of Earth’s protectors to see who will take this year’s Lombardi Trophy (for Superhero Excellence)!
Now, I’ve never read the comics and what superhero knowledge I do have comes from the occasional article or movie, so go easy on me if there’s something I missed or you think I’m just totally off. This is purely just a fun way for me to geek out over some superheroes. These rankings are also only for Marvel superheroes, specifically the Avengers–sorry DC fans. I just don’t think I have nearly enough DC knowledge to rate these characters. And I also couldn’t quite fit everyone into just one post. But, if you guys like it, please make sure to let me know in the comments section down below and I might just be able to do another, more expansive one!
Marvel’s Avengers–RANKED
I’m just going to go ahead and put Hawkeye, Star Lord, Black Widow, and Black Panther at the bottom of this list. Not that they aren’t skilled in their own ways, but their lack of obvious superhuman abilities gives them the disadvantage over the big guns. And I know Star Lord is half alien or whatever, but what extra powers does that really give him. None that I’ve seen so far, so I’m keeping him at the bottom of the list. Although, I guess I could give him a point or two for superior dance skills.
Moving on up we have Scarlet Witch, Dr. Strange, Spider-Man, and Ant-Man. I’m going to stick Ant-Man at the bottom of this section because I haven’t really seen him do anything exciting except change the size of his body. With a magic suit. Next. Spider-Man is in the middle here for me, simply because I think he could take Ant-Man, but maybe not Scarlet Witch. They should both definitely get some style points, like Mister Star Lord over there.
Now we have Scarlet Witch and Dr. Strange. Here’s where the rankings get a little difficult. Both Scarlet Witch and Dr. Strange have amazing abilities. Dr. Strange is a master of magic. And with the Time Stone, who’s to say he hasn’t already won the fight? But it seems like he gets all of these powers from his cloak or his amulet. Scarlet Witch has magic running through her veins. But ultimately, I think her inexperience and emotions would get in the way.
Last I’m bringing in four of our original Avengers–Thor, Hulk, Captain America, and Iron Man. I think the Hulk goes somewhere in-between Scarlet Witch and Spider-Man. If he could get his hands on the little bugger, there’s no telling how hard he’ll smash. Thor has got some power in him so I’ll move him up to the top. Okay, I’ve been dreading this part of the post ever since I started writing it–Captain America vs. Iron Man. I mean, I think we’ve got our Super Bowl contenders here. But who’s going to take the trophy? I believe it’s really anybody’s game. I think Captain America has a little more experience and is a lot more level-headed than Iron Man, and I think this gives him a bigger advantage than we might think. But I do think, if it came down to it, Iron Man would be willing to do “whatever it takes.”
So at the end of it, here are our Super[hero] Bowl winners–RANKED!
Captain America
Iron Man
Thor
Dr. Strange
Scarlet Witch
Hulk
Spider-Man
Ant-Man
Black Widow
Black Panther
Star Lord
Hawkeye
But really, why are we even having this conversation when Captain Marvel exists?
I had so much fun reading, researching, and just overall nerding out over this! I hope you guys enjoyed! And don’t forget to let me know who your favorite superheroes are and where you think they’d fit in this bracket. Also, if you liked this post, let me know in the comments section down below!
