Back to the Books

It’s that time of the year again—Back to School! Depending on where you go to school, you might’ve already started classes. Even if you haven’t yet, chances are you’ve started getting books and materials together for when you do.

Besides school supplies, there’s a whole other list of items to make sure you stock up on for the year. Band-Aids, hand sanitizer, mints—the list can almost be as endless as your list of textbooks. Not sure where to start? No fear, Sam is here! If you’ve got some spare room in your bag, check out these Fast Five Backpack Essentials every student should consider when heading back to school!

Headphones

I never leave my house without my headphones. One of my favorite times to listen to music is when I’m walking across campus. Finding parking isn’t always the easiest feat where I go to school. On those days where my class is all the way on the other side of where I parked, it’s nice to have my headphones on hand to listen to music and pump myself up for the day. You also never know when you’re going to have down time in class. If you’re someone who needs music to study, you’ll be thankful to have your headphones with you.

Water

It gets pretty hot where I live—especially this time of year. Water is a must to make sure I stay hydrated. If your school is large and you have to make a long walk in-between classes, a water bottle will help make sure you don’t get too parched.

Money

You never know when you’re going to need a couple extra dollars. It doesn’t even need to be a lot, but having cash on hand never hurt anyone. Hungry? Get a snack from the vending machine. Cold? Buy a sweater from your school’s spirit store. Need to pay a friend back for that film ticket they spotted you for last week? Well no problem, you’ve got the cash!

Sunglasses

I have pretty sensitive eyes, so sunglasses are a must for me. Even if you’re not big on them, it’s nice to have a pair stored away in your bag for those extremely sunny days.

Chargers

When I’m on campus for several hours at a time, it’s nice to use some of my time in-between classes to study or catch up on other work. But you can’t very well do that with a dead phone or laptop. That’s why it’s smart to pack your chargers before you leave the house in the morning. Better safe than sorry!
