The Internet is a vast resource that I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface of. I’m not just talking about how deep you can fall into a Google-search-hole or how many vine compilations you need to watch before you’ve seen them all. I mean, I use the same websites for studying and leisure without diving into much else- unless it’s something really funny a friend recommends I just have to see.
If you’re bored of laughing at the same YouTube videos over and over again (it’s nothing personal YouTube) then check out these Corners of the Internet. (For the purposes of this post, I’m only exploring what I perceive to be the lesser-known, perhaps weirdest areas of the Internet).
Cleverbot
Cleverbot has been around since I was young- it was actually proceeded by a website called Jabberwacky. Both use an algorithm to have conversations with users that visit the site. You can tell Cleverbot all about your how your horrible boss is making you work Valentine’s Day weekend…just don’t expect it to give you good advice back.
Do Nothing for 2 Minutes
The game is in the name. This website is really helpful for those moments when you’re really stressed out trying to finish that ten page paper and you need to force yourself to take a break. You couldn’t even try to cut the time short if you wanted to- the website will automatically reset your two minutes if you touch your mouse or keyboard. It’s for your own good.
Here is Today
For all you philosophical people out there, Here is Today is for you. I recently came across this interactive timeline that certainly puts a different interpretation on the meaning of “life.”
Rainy Mood
Some people find the sound of rain really relaxing. Good thing Rainy Mood can easily change the weather to help you finish a good book or sleep through the night.
The Editing Room
This website shortens popular film scripts with funny lines and quirky character qualities. The stories are the same- the read is something new entirely. Check out how some of your favorite films were reinvented!
The Useless Web
With this tool, you have a world of useless websites at your disposal. All you have to do is push the button.
Typing Test
You may think you’re a fast typer, but how fast are you really? Put your skills to the test by checking out this website. And if you’re not all that great at typing, they’ve got some training courses you could use to help get better.
I hope there were some websites on here that peaked your attention. Are there random websites that you frequent when you really need a study break or a good laugh? Put them down in the comments section!
