Road Trip Essentials

As an avid traveler — specifically an avid road trip traveler — I thought it was about time to share my top must-have items for road trip travel with you. Click the full blog post link to get access to the video for more information!

All of my road trip essentials have one thing in common — they all capitalize on my comfort and convenience while on a road trip. Let me know down in the comments section of the video or the comments section of the blog post what you’re most comfortable and convenient road trip essentials are.

And just in case you missed them in the video, here’s a recap of all my road trip essentials —

Comfortable Clothes

Comfortable clothes equals a comfortable car ride. And when you’re on a road trip, comfort should be your biggest concern.

Water

It’s so important to stay hydrated while traveling. Bring a reusable water bottle so you constantly have a source of water. Mine is easy to carry along with me, keeps water cool, and saves me from having to buy a plastic one at the store.

Snacks

It’s important to keep your hunger away while your traveling too. Light snacks, chips, fruits — these are all good to have on hand. Make sure they’re easily accessible too, so you don’t have a hard time reaching for them or have a hard time finding a place to stop so you can get them when you’re hungry on the road.

Music (and More)

How else are you going to keep yourself entertained during the drive? (Just to be clear “more” includes podcasts, audiobooks, and pretty much everything else like that that isn’t music).

Maps

Keep yourself on the right side of the road with maps, addresses, pins, and more. Technology can be so useful in situations like these.

Phone Charger

A phone charger is a great way to make sure you can keep the music and entertainment going, and your maps and directions up to date throughout the entire road trip.

Sunglasses

I like to keep a couple pairs of sunglasses on hand to help with sunny glares and bright rays while I’m driving. They’re also great for accessorizing any outfit. Chances are you already have a pair — or more — you like to use on a day to day basis. Bring them along with you on your next road trip!

Sun Shade

I have a few sun shades that I use to keep my car cool when I’m out and about during the day. They’re easy to use and work really well. Plus, they’re easy to find and really affordable too. They’re definitely worth getting, even for just every day life.

Cash Money

Coins and cash can come in handy for various occasions — like at tolls or for change at fast food restaurants. You might not always need them, but if you, you’ll be glad you have them.

Trash Bags and Cans

Trash bags and cans are an easy and efficient way to keep your car clean and not cluttered from any mess you might accumulate during a road trip. And trust me, chances are you’ll make more of a mess than you think you might. I just use a kitchen trash bag in my car, but you can find a more stable can or bin online or at most stores.

Blanket

A definite road trip essential — but only when I’m the Passenger Princess (TM).
